The BCHA’s annual Pioneer Day is a half-day field trip for Berrien County’s 3rd and 4th graders.  Open to public, private, and parochial schools, students experience hands-on activities that give them a glimpse into the life of Michigan’s pioneers.  Home school families interested in attending should contact Pioneer Day Coordinator, Tara Velez at tvelez@berrienhistory.org to learn about logistics unique to your situation.

The event is held the second Thursday in May and teachers are notified in February via mail.  These packets include information sheets for parents, field trip permission forms, the sign up form, and a list of standards for that year’s activity schedule.  To learn more about our event, please review last year’s Pioneer Day Teacher Letter.

Pioneer Day 2021 is tentatively scheduled for May 13th, however, we will be monitoring the COVID-19 situation and making adjustments as needed.
