Do you have an all consuming passion for history? Have a few spare hours to give? Want to dive deep into Berrien County history? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then we want you! The BCHA has numerous on-going and pending projects and we can connect you with something that excites you. If you love people, we have programs and events you can assist with. If you like reading, we have research requests that need help being filled. If you think you’re Marie Kondo, we have several collections that need to be organized and accessioned. And if you’re a student, you can earn college credit for your work here! With your help, we can continue to successfully meet our mission!
Volunteers are important in helping us staff large events, process large collections, or just get through the little things that keeps us running. Areas we are currently seeking volunteers for include:
Collections & Archives
- This includes creating our corporate archives, processing existing collections, rehousing artifacts, filling research requests
Events & Programs
- This includes working booths at events, serving as a program host, serving as a jack of all trades for large events, and more
Front Desk & Behind the Scenes
- This can include helping with monthly mailings, organizing files, working the front desk, and more
If you have a project that interests you and you think would be a good fit, then contact our Museum Operations Coordinator Tara Velez at firstname.lastname@example.org.
At this time the BCHA only offers unpaid internships to students local to Southwest Michigan institutions, including Western Michigan University, Southwestern Michigan College, Lake Michigan College, and Andrews University. Students from other schools who are from the area may also apply for summer internships.
Not a history major? That’s fine! We welcome majors of all backgrounds and will strive to create or assign projects to students to best fit their needs and interests! Museums are a multidisciplinary field, who knows what you can find if you think outside the box!
To learn more about the areas interns can work in and some possible projects, review our Internship Information Sheet here. If you like what you see then request an application form and start the next stage of your educational journey!
Interested in sponsoring an intern? Contact us at email@example.com to see how you can help students achieve their educational dreams!
From time to time the BCHA may have a position come up for employment. All applicants are required to submit a cover letter and resume in order to be considered for open positions.
We do not accept resumes for positions when no openings are available.
There are no open positions at this time. Please check back in the future!
